How do I self-publish my book?

Why do we need another book on self-publishing? There are hundreds of books available on this very topic. Most are aimed at authors who want to publish their books on the big global marketplaces, such as Amazon, Kobo, etc. and we’ll highlight some of the best books we’ve found for global publishing in case you want to refer to those as well.
Publishing in the New Zealand market has a few intricacies that aren’t always easy to discover. It may not always be clear why this aspect of indie publishing is important or how it could help your book.
That’s why Kate Gordon-Smith and Leanne Wickham are creating the helpful book, Successful Indie Publishing in Aotearoa New Zealand.
So, who are the authors?
Kate Gordon-Smith, director of Relish Communications from North Canterbury, has independently published three junior fiction novels so far. Her books can be found in New Zealand public and school libraries, and are available from bookshops around the motu. Her successful book publicity projects have included memoirs, nonfiction, children’s books and YA fiction. Through her coaching, she’s helped authors figure out if self-publishing is for them, where to start and what steps they need to take next.
Leanne Wickham, founder of Red Pencil Ltd of Christchurch, has worked with dozens of New Zealand and international authors writing in the fiction genre including romance, apocalyptic fiction, historical fiction and literary fiction from children’s books through YA to adults, and nonfiction including self-help books, cookbooks and how-to guides. Leanne coaches them through the story development and writing processes and brings her editing skills to help each book be as good as the author can make it.
