When you choose to self-publish, there is a lot to learn when you’re creating the book AND when you’re ready to market the book.
I know this because I’ve done it all myself with my own junior fiction books.
I can help with the various elements needed to present your book professionally for bookshops to consider stocking it.
I can help you:
- Figure out your wholesale pricing.
- Understand what ‘on consignment’ means and how to invoice a bookstore.
- Understand your obligations as an independently published author in terms of keeping print copies in stock and supplying promptly when ordered.
- Create an Advance Information Sheet (AIS), also called a New Title Information document (NTI).
- Make sure your book’s metadata and cover image is loaded with Nielsen Title Data correctly.
- Create a professional email to bookstores to ask them to consider stocking your book.
- Find other places where you can list your book, e.g. Wheelers, if relevant.
We can talk about which aspects you need help with. I can then provide a cost estimate for the agreed tasks.
A guide to getting your book into bookstores
I co-wrote this guide with the NZ Society of Authors to help independently published authors get their book stocked by mainstream and online book retailers in Aotearoa New Zealand.
